Homemade Sugar Scrub
I have always used an exfoliant on my face and body. A little over a year ago my
mother-in-law introduced me to Essential Oils and she has educated me on all of the toxic ingredients used in our everyday drugstore products. With that being said, I wanted to create my own scrub that I know is natural and safe to use on my body. I use Young Living Essential Oils daily in our home. This scrub turned out fabulous! After using it on my face and body in the shower, my skin felt so soft and hydrated. The lemon scent is so great for a morning shower because I feel like it is such an energizing scent!
Coconut Oil
I melted the coconut oil in the microwave for about 25 seconds until in was completely liquid. Previously I have melted the coconut oil on the stove top in a sauce pan so that is always an option.
I decided to use Sugar in the Raw because I like the texture of the bigger sugar grains rather than granulated sugar that is small and fine.

Homemade Sugar Scrub
Prep: 5 Minutes
Ingredients:
1 ½ Cup of Sugar in the Raw
4 Tablespoons of Coconut Oil
10-15 Drops of Lemon Essential Oil
Directions:
Place four Tablespoons of coconut oil into a microwave safe bowl and microwave on high until melted (about 25 seconds).
Pour melted coconut oil into the sugar and mix well. If the mixture is too wet, add a small amount of sugar until the right consistency is achieved.
Add drops of the essential oil to the sugar & coconut oil mix. (I added 15 drops of Lemon essential oil)
Scoop into small jars and make sure the lid fits tight.
It is best to use the sugar scrub up to three times a week so you are not over exfoliating the skin. This type of scrub is known to last two to three weeks in an airtight container. If the scrub starts smelling different than the day it was made, throw it out and make a new batch.
